Freddy Jackson, Mario, Tuface, SSP thrill corporate elite


The Expo Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos was filled with guest as they partied till dawn at the 8th edition of Corporate Elite musical concert which held last Sunday. With its success, Lagos confirmed her status as the entertainment hub of Africa, as the crème de la crème of global entertain­ment trooped out in large numbers to be part of the international music fiesta.
The event gathered the best of Nigerian music stars and other foreign artist. Tuface Idibia, who surprisingly did not perform, managed to pull fans and admirers to where he was sited. The event was co-sponsored by Pepsi, a leading brand in carbonated soft drink,
Legendary American singer, Freddy Jackson, thrilled the crowd with his sonorous voice as he sang old tunes that brought back pleasant memories. Also from the United States were Dru Hill and Mario, and many others like South African group, Micasa and 112, who serenaded the audience with soul lifting songs.
Not to be left out were Nigerian acts who took their performances to another level. Praiz who was one of Nigeria’s finest, set the stage ablaze with his motivating songs Rich and Famous and Mercy to which fans sang along. As the ladies were still swooning over Praiz, another sex symbol, Banky W, hit the stage to take the audi­ence to yet another musical pedestal with some of his current tunes including Ma Jaye Orimi.
Young Nigerian artistes, Jeffery and Immaculate, set the stage for Omoakin who stormed the podium with beautiful tunes such as Suretete and Talosobe. The audience was taken another level when JJC mounted the stage to render his popu­lar song, We Are Africans. Lami Phillips, songwriter and singer, grabbed attention of everyone with her sparkling black net dress and white shoes the moment she stepped on stage. She lived up to expecta­tion with beautiful presentation of her award winning song, Intuition.
Excited Head of Marketing, Seven Up Bottling Company Plc, makers of Pepsi, Mr. Norden Thurston explained why Pepsi has been the sponsor of the event in the last eight years. He said “Pepsi seeks to achieve a connection with its consumers, the positioning of Pepsi is to ‘live for now’ and to live for now means making the best of every single moment. This year’s Corporate Elite was bigger and better. We always seek to excite and engage our consum­ers and we have been around this long because of the consumer.”
Among other star performers where: Don Jazzy, Sound Sultan, High Priest, Dudu, Kcee and Sir Shina Peters.
