Nigeria women national team brushed aside Zambia 6-0 in their second game of the on-going African Women Championship on Tuesday evening.
A brace from Desire Oparanozie and strikes from Ngozi Okobi, Osinachi Ohale, Asisat Oshoala and Perpetua Nkwocha were all the former African champions needed to cruise into the last four of the competition.
Nigeria got their first goal in the second minute after Okobi connected from a close range effort from Oshoala following a freekick.
In similar fashion of the first, Ohale doubled her side’s lead after she rose above her markers to head home a free-kick taken by Ngozi Ebere.
Oparanozie made it three from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after a Zambian defender had handled in the penalty area.
Goalkeeper Hazel Nali was splendid in goal for the She-polopolo as she denied Edwin Okon’s ladies clear cut chances to make the scoreline respectable.
In the 39th minute, Grace Zulu was given the marching order by referee Incaf El Harkaoui for a second bookable offence but the Nigerian ladies could not add to their three goal tally before the end of the first half.

On resumption of the second half, Okon’s ladies pushed for more goals and could have gotten at least two more goals in the first ten minutes of the restarts but Oshoala bungled away two glaring goal chances as goalkeeper Nali continued with her impressive performance.
Five minutes past the hour mark, Oshoala finally managed to beat Nali, heading home from Ebere’s corner for her sides fourth goal with Oparanozie completing her brace before substitute Nkwocha completed the whitewash six minutes from time.
Nigeria will face hosts Namibia in the final group game to be played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Friday.
